Beckaloo ~ The Wedding Planner
Last Saturday, Alvin and I met up with Becky to talk about the wedding. Basically I have an idea I want to tell her but Alvin seems to take charge on how to make everybody happy.
I’m treating Becky as a professional wedding planner, but Alvin treating her as part of the family which he selected to execute the planning.
I know Becky has head full of ideas as soon as we told her the theme of the wedding. What we need to do is to give her information she needs to make it happen. This also includes activities before and after wedding.
Like I say before, it may sound harsh I put it as “my wedding, my call”. That’s why I need professional help to meet the requirement. I do not want surprises and I do not want anybody to get upset.
I believe when the wedding planner is involved. Family members should respect our decision because we have thought of each other’s character and our relatives and friends. At the end of the day, we want them to feel comfortable. We want them to be part of our life in the most important day of ours.
The meeting was fun. I let Alvin do all the talking. After many things that he has to say, he added “strictly no singing and dancing.”
“What about speech? The groom should give speech. What about the best man and maid of honour?” Becky suggested: “maybe the bride also want to give speech?”
“Oh yes! I have a lot of things to say.” I jokingly say.
“This one we need to give her time limit.” She said.
Maybe the speech thing is not necessary…
She suggested many things that we can do. We need to decide on colours and costumes. I showed her a few cards design that I like and ask her if she can design some card according to the poem I selected.
I’m beginning to understand every girl wants their wedding to be perfect. I realized there are many things we need to do.
We have to think about what music to use in the church and the dinner.
Church wedding - Which priest will be hosting the ceremony? What type of ceremony would the priest prefer? Does my sisters willing to read the hymn? Who is going to be the Master of Ceremony? It is not as simple as I thought! I leave that to Becky.
Am I not? I am so lucky because I got the best deal in the world.
I also told her the few characters in the family so she will know how to take care of situations. She already has an idea of what to do and how to make it smoother. Basically I want her to be in charged.
We are still waiting for the stars and the moon to tell us when is the time to get married, anyway, we can start working on other things like design of cards and costumes, colours, flowers, favours and sourcing for make-up artists and hairdresser.
We were worried about budget. Becky and Tony are giving us a very generous offer. It is going to be a great help and I can’t waste their time and effort.
When I’m sending Becky to her sister’s home, I told Becky I want to be the stress free bride. She promised me I will be the few luckiest brides in the world.
I am confident this is going to be a happiest moment of our life. Now, I’m off working on the guests list and sort out a few things I need to send to Becky.
