Nice Dress
Ling and I went to see a designer last week wanted to check out the package price of photography and everything else.
The reason to have meeting was because Julian’s cousin is a photographer and they want quality assurance other then engaging someone they don’t know to shoot their photograph.
I wasn’t very supportive but I would like to see his composition so I tag along to see what they are up to.
I was not impressed with the photography because there are just photographs. There are beautiful but not breathe takingly beautiful. The studio and on the set shots are nice, nothing should go wrong anyway, but the wedding shots was just not impressive. I mean you want people to look at the photogrophs and sigh… what a beautiful wedding…
Forgive me if I am too straight forward.
The designer was Allan Ow. He is a very nice guy and I enjoyed talking to him. He is a passionate designer and his design is nice. The meeting turned out to be him selling his design instead of offering her a nice package of everything.
“Well, we just open the shop and we have not finalized the prices. I am going overseas next week and I will be back on December. I will work out the package for you then...”
It was silly. How can you have nothing to give your client when your shop is already open? For your info, they already open for two months.
I love his design very much but it’s not what I wanted. So I just let Ling and Julian to decide what they like to have. I might have him to design my evening dress.
Few weeks ago, Sue and I drafted a price list to tailor make my dresses. It came up to about RM3000, fabrics and tailoring fee. Accessories included.
I already know what I want, but I can still change my mind over some small details like if I should forget about the French lace, maybe I don’t need pants for tea ceremony, maybe I should cut out diamante on my veil, maybe I don’t need a cathedral length veil because I already have French lace etc.
Anyway because it was only a draft, I still have time to change my mind, to cut down the cost, of course.
Today, Sue came to my office for a recording. I was free for the day because Jason can take care of everything. I chatted with her and she told me she saw some nice gown in Hartamas Shopping center.
I wasn’t so keen because I keep thinking of tailor make my wedding gown. I do have one track mind. It’s my wedding and I want to be different. Anyway, I agree to check out the gowns on behalf of Ling because she might be interested.
So off we went after lunch.
We went to the shop, I saw the gown. Very nice, very sweet, very beautiful, very midsummer, very… cheap… it’s only RM888.
I was like “OMG!!! This is impossible! This is incredible!!! This is too good to be true!!!!!!”
I started looking at the price tag looking for the missing numbers.
Sue was laughing away and told me that’s the price and the workmanship is pretty good. Plus the sequence… bling bling… so beautiful!!!
Ok. It was the only gown display in the shop. So we asked the lady in the shop if it is the only gown she has. She said she has more in another shop, which is just a brief 30 second walk away.
Sue and I got so excited. We followed her… hmmm… it was selling children clothing… nice dresses for flower girls though.
She went to the store room and found some 6 or 8 pieces of them. They are all so gorgeous. Duthcess satin and sequence and laces and so elegantly designed… I wanted to be picky but I can’t because the bead work is so good and the gowns are so breathe takingly beautiful, let’s not forget they are very sophisticated too.
Forget about keeping it simple. I stood in front of the mirror and look at myself briefly. They look so nice…
But…
No train…
When I was just about to give up… I’m getting married in the cathedral, my gown must have train!
“YY!” Sue took out of from the bunch and said: “here’s one with train, and it is a halter neck!!!”
I’m a sucker for halter neck too.
“OMG!!! Sue! I love you.”
I tried it on and it fits perfectly! I never see myself so beautiful in my entire life. My mom will cry when she see me in this.
Hmmm… and it comes with the veil and a pair of gloves. I only need a pair of 3 inches heel and a pair of diamond earrings.
And the price is too good to resist – RM1200!!! And it is one of a kind. Where else can I get this terrific bargain???
“I’m taking it.” I said, “But my principle rule is I must sleep on it.”
Sue helped me to pay the deposit and 2 days later… THE GOWN IS MINE!!!!! Hahahahaha…
So, one down – the gown is ready and I saved some money for my shoes and accessories.
I’m so HAPPY!!!!

The designer who designs the wedding gown was trained in Paris. She moved to China because her husband got transferred. Dresses are made in China, that’s why she is selling them in extremely affordable price.
Her designs are sophisticated and the workmanship is beautiful. Her friend, Ms. Soo who own Secret Garden is helping her to market her work. She might open a shop here soon.
