Taboo

Discussing something with the folks in Foo village is a headache. My mom, sister and I went to see my uncles and aunties in Ampang to talk about the things to do and not to do on the bride side of the family.

Well, only one auntie (she is the only one who has a son to continue the name, very important person) was talking, uncles are wise but they are not making any decision (typical husband, men married for more than 30 years are like that), the other auntie was a bit lost (she a bit neither Chinese nor England, not very Malaysian) and the rest of us (identity crisis) are blur like sotong…

Oh my lord! I have no idea what to do because my mom told me not to say anything but she also didn’t say anything and I have no idea why she didn’t say anything when she told me not to say anything.

When asked about taboo, they all have no idea what taboo means because Alvin is a Catholic and traditional Chinese taboo shouldn’t be bothered. They thought we are going western…

Oh my God! Christianity was founded in the Middle East!!! Get your history right.

What!!! I always say religion and culture don’t mix. Do what you need to do because when I am meeting groom’s family requirement, my husband too should also meet the bride’s family requirement.

Oh dear… never mind. Whatever I want to do I shall game it in the bridal shower. It’s time to call Vanitha for some help.

At the end of the meeting I have no clue what to do other than having tea ceremony with grandma (not very mobile ever since the accident) before heading to cousin’s house because the “ancestors” are there, after that we’ll go somewhere for hi tea or dinner.

My sister suggested Subang and I thought Tropicana. Hehehe… great mind think alike. It’s my wedding what, I’ll choose the location.

Suddenly I feel like a fly without head… ermmm… it also means headless chicken.

They also say: “haiyaaa… you young people like to do what, we do what lo. As long as you are happy…”

Why all the old people like that one???? When thing goes too modern they say we don’t care about the traditional thing, when we care about the traditional thing they don’t want to give idea… everything also “chin chai” and “simple simple can la” ^_^’

Haiyooo… I really feel like jump down from the 18th floor.

Anyway, I will make my own decision, sketch my own itinerary, send them a letter, and rock and roll.

Tropicana… buffet… let me talk to Sue tomorrow, she can get cheap rate. Khakaka…
